Smarter Subsea: Variable (and controllable) buoyancy solutions for transforming subsea development and operations of the offshore energy and other subsea sectors

Smarter Subsea is a specialist service and technology provider of multi-functional, remotely-operated, variable buoyancy solutions for deploying, recovering, and positioning subsea and seabed infrastructure across all marine sectors.

The global marine sectors are undergoing a rapid transformation to reduce costs and increase the mobility of subsea infrastructure across the offshore energies and defence sectors. The limited availability and high cost of marine construction vessels are causing both a critical bottleneck extending well into the 2030s, and a significant cost and time impact on capital projects, operations and maintenance.  There is a clear market need for scalable, repeatable, and low-cost solutions that enable remote crane operations subsea, which are independent of vessel availability, and that better resource the exponentially expanding offshore renewables markets.

ROVAR (Remotely Operated Vehicle for Assets Re-Positioning) is a disruptive technology designed to meet this market need, offering the alternative to crane vessels.  ROVAR’s globally patented variable buoyancy system handles loads from a few tonnes to thousands, extends the operational weather windows of all vessels, and with full operational capability even in deep seas.  ROVAR can perform the vast majority of crane operations subsea which are needed by all sectors, utilising smaller cheaper marine vessels, thereby reducing the cost of marine construction and operations.

ROVAR is a scalable and repeatable solution for subsea operations, unlocking new efficiencies for all marine sectors.  By enabling autonomous, on-demand subsea mobility, ROVAR can meet the global exponential demand across multiple-markets, and with the potential to step-change the economics of subsea infrastructure projects and operations.
